United En Garde Exhibition on May 26, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. SLT

United En Garde is pleased to be a part of Games Week at Orange Island. We are a group that loves the fencing game En Garde! adapted for Second Life by Rifkin Habsburg. Every two weeks we sponsor a tournament, open to anyone, traveling to many beautiful places in Second Life.

After a brief presentation, we have invited 8 fencers from around the En Garde! world to fight a short team match and show you the game in action. Then all the strips will be open to the public for anyone who wants to play, or to learn to play. Several of the exhibiton fencers will be available to help you or cheer you on.

All eight exhibitors have been ranked in the worldwide Top 8 at some time. Four have been ranked #1 in the world. Tiffany Dragonash is the current series champion. The six women and two men fence for six different Procyon Game teams. Tiffany Dragonash and Musique Gable are on the La Musique team, The Untouchables.

TEAM MUSE: (left) Co-founders Musique Gable and Kat Burger team up with Gary Kumaki and Tiffany Dragonash.

TEAM VAL: (right) Valentine Janus, another co-founder, teams with Dusty Merlin, Hope Coakes, and Sissy Stardust.

Everyone fences once against one opponent. All four bouts are simultaneous. The team winning the most bouts wins the match; in a 2-2 tie total, touches in the four bouts will break it.

Exhibition will take take place on May 26, 2008 at 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. here: Orange Island

You can purchase En Garde! here: Malrif

NEW! Take It Easy

New games in the gaming area, aMUSEment, on La Musique!!

Take It Easy is a tile-placement game that can be played as a casual competition or as a difficult brain puzzler. It is a simple, fun game. Tiles are dealt out to the players one at a time. Each tile has three lines on it. You place each tile on your board, trying to line up the colored lines. When all the spaces are filled, you score your completed lines, and high score wins. Sound simple? Wait until you play it yourself! You can play it here on La Musique.

There are currently two versions of Take It Easy on La Musique:

  • Take It Easy Head-to-Head: This version of the game allows solo play, or a challenge between two friends. You can also play in Solo mode and Replay the same tiles, to try and beat your own score.

  • Take It Easy Solo Challenge: Match wits to try and find the best arrangement of tiles on the board. Whenever you play, you're playing against everyone else in Second Life! It costs L$50 to play, and the money is all collected into one global jackpot. When the Challenge ends, whoever has the high score wins the pot.

Take it Easy is brought to you by Rifkin Habsburg of Procyon Games by the game originally designed by Peter Burley. You can play and purchase Take it Easy on Malrif in Club Zed.

Special thanks to the following people who were gracious enough to model for me: Claira Fairey, DollEyes Barbosa, Fawn Giano, Jazzy Shan, Lauren Mureaux, Precious Darcy, Violete Beaumont, Tricia Farella, Daru Gide, Buffy Sutherland & Kaz Nightly.

NEW! Feed the Swans

Love is in the air on La Musique! Seems our two resident swans (Unlike the recent headlines, one is a cob and the other a pen - no transgender females involved) have been taken a cue from all the snuggling on the island and have recently given birth to a cygnet. As with any new parents, they are exhausted keeping up with the little one, so I've put a feeder on the island, so you can come lend them a helping hand. So cuddle up on the newly built dock, enjoy the sunset and feed the swans!!

BrightStone Events on Sunday, March 30th:

NEW! Easter Egg Hunt & Decorations

Easter Sunday is almost upon us -- one week left!

Easter means many different things to many different people and conversely is celebrated a myriad of ways. For Christians it celebrates the resurrection of Jesus. Easter is also linked to the Jewish Passover. For others it brings up visions of Peter Rabbit hopping down the bunny trail passing out easter eggs, chocolate bunnies and marshmellow peeps (my daughter's favorite). For the White House, it means the annual Easter Egg Roll -- a tradition on the White House Lawn since 1878. While for the working class, it means a day off (Ya!) and for the little ones, no school!

I have fond memories of Easter Egg Hunts in my youth, so I've brought it to La Musique. I've placed 7 easter eggs all around the island. Find each one and receive a small monetary award, along with a prize!

In between searching for eggs, come check out the Easter items that are up for sale. We have an adorable easter basket that has two chocolate (yum!) bunnies nestled between colorful eggs and tulips in a finely-craft purple wicker basket. You'll also find some cute stuffed bunnies as well as some easter eggs. All at reasonable prices. Let that special someone know you are thinking of them this holiday!!

However you celebrate Easter, come to La Musique to purchase your easter items or participate in the easter egg hunt.

It's a Madcow Madhouse!

I'm a little late posting this, but I figure better late than never. It's an exhibit not to be missed. Exrex Somme was kind enough to share this with me, so I figured I would return the favor and share it with everyone else at http://slurl.com/secondlife/Callistei/56/88/27/.

For one week, March 8-15, visit and wander through the whimsical, weird and wonderful creations of Madcow Cosmos. His works contain many many prims..and just as much imagination and wonder.

In Madcow's words:
"Included are some of my favorite high prim beauties many of which I've never included in a display yet, so I'm happy to get them out of my inventory and get them some fresh air (and no, I have no idea what that smell in my inventory is from although I assume not everything I made started off as a skeleton).

Having created them for the pure joy of doing so I also hope that you can enjoy them in such an unfettered way. Climb on them, take pictures, engage in lewd acts when no one else is there if you must, but have fun with them! "

Touch the spinning sign at the landing point for the Artist's statement and exhibit list. The centerpiece sculpture may be changed a few times during the week so stop back and see. Madcow will be holding 'Meet the artist' sessions on Monday March 10 at 1 PM SL time for the Euro crowd, and on Friday March 14 at 7 PM SL time. Both sessions will be followed by fireworks.

Callipygian Christensen was kind enough to supply the sim for this wonderful exhibit.

NEW! Photo Booth on La Musique

CREATE A MEMORY

Photo booth stories are part of a lot of people's pasts. Photo booth memories are what most people recall of their past already gone but not forgotten. There is that kind of charm that these wonderful gadgets have in them. It might be because of what they can do. Photo booths can make out instant keepsakes in the form of personal photos. They can capture a moment in time on snapshots that can, time and again, bring back those memories just with a single glance. And the photos make for great keepsakes too. People just can't help but have their photos taken in photo booths. That is its allure.

The emotions a photo booth evokes is what possessed me to put one on La Musique so everyone can enjoy it. And it's absolutely FREE!

Richard Brink was kind enough to help me test out the photo booth. The pictures you see to the left are pictures actually taken in the photo booth! Neat, huh? It has a ton of poses and backgrounds to choose from.

Photo booth memories are worth sharing too! In that regard, I'm going to put up a community billboard so everyone, who wants, can share their pictures as well. Just pass me your photo with every one's name on it and I'll post it for everyone to see. The picture strip has full permissions, so you can even share them with all your friends! One of the other features is that you can hold your photo in-world like so:

You can find the photo booth here on La Musique:

So I bet you are wondering . . .

How does this thing work?

There is not much to it, you sit in the booth and it gives you instructions on how to change the poses and backgrounds.

Does it take pictures?

No, you have to click snapshot and upload it.

What do I do with the filmstrip?

You can put pictures inside the film strip, just drop the textures in the squares.

Can you fit more then two people in there?

There are only two seats, but you can squeeze a few people in. They can stand in the back or sit on a prim and slide themselves in.

Come to La Musique and create new memories!

Dexter Ihnen Concert on La Musique for March 18, 2008 @ 4:00 p.m. SLT

'Amazing virtuosity' - London Times

http://slurl.com/secondlife/La%20Musique/129/173/23/

My second year rezz day is coming up on the 18th of March and I wanted to do something special for it. It did not take long to think of how to make the day special -- ask my talented friend, Dexter Inhen (known as Dexter Moore in RL), to play for everyone on La Musique.

I started out as a fan of his music and it quickly developed into a wonderful friendship. A close knit group of us (Driftwood, Tardis, Richard, me, Fran and Pdv) became what we affectionally called his "entourage." We always have a blast and a lot of laughs. I'm proud to call myself a MegaDexian!

Diane Fairplay, his wife in SL, and Dex even got married on my island, La Musique, on October 21, 2007. A gorgeous wedding!

Like a funkified psychadelic Woody Guthrie, Dexter Moore certainly put the mileage behind him as he spent his early years hitching and busking around the world. As one of his self portrait lyrics portrays in a tribute to Jack Keroac:

'Desolation angel,
just a dharma bum,
Lonesome traveler
on the road'

This is a seasoned traveler whose only inspiration was to live the artists way and to keep the music real.

Here then is an artist who walked away from a major record deal in London in order to keep his integrity intact rather than become one of those who would become what the industry wanted them to be. That is not what an true artist does! It was on this journey that he developed his unique and mesmerizing guitar style - A notable feature that has won Dexter fans all over the world.

Along the way Dexter found the time to learn the arts of sound engineering and record production. Producing a ..1 hit in the process. But it is in his songwriting that he truly captures hearts. Now a multi-award winning songwriter, Dexter Moore sells his CDs worldwide over the internet and at his performances. He has spent months on end at the top of various charts and enjoys a somewhat cult-like following of musicians and discerning listeners.

A short distance from the La Musique store you can find the raft dock.

Foxtrot Morales and I are about to take a ride . . .

It's quite simple....

On the raft you will see two poseballs. Whether you ride alone or with someone special, wait until you are seated before you click on the drop down menu. Select "Castaway."

Once you have selected "Castaway," just sit back and enjoy the ride....

"Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?"

Foxtrot has magically morphed into Oscar Page......!

With your hands free, you can concentrate on more important things like enjoying the romantic scenery, engaging conversation and the highly underrated snuggling....

Célébration d'Amour

Happy Valentine's Day!!

I claim there ain't
Another Saint
As great as Valentine.
~Ogden Nash

To celebrate the holiday, last night La Musique had a ball and concert by Heath Elvehjem. As the sun kissed the sea and the lovers danced, Heath tickled the ivories, serenading the crowd with his soulful ballads and melodies.

Oh, if it be to choose and call thee mine, love, thou art every day my Valentine! ~Thomas Hood

Filled with friends, new and old, our spirits soared as we enjoyed each other's company and the serene ambiance.

Love is a symbol of eternity. It wipes out all sense of time, destroying all memory of a beginning and all fear of an end. ~Author Unknown

It was a wonderful evening, on a romantic sim, filled with amazing people. Again, Happy Valentine's Day everyone!! Hope your life is filled with love, laughter and song.
